Adult ADHD Evaluation
Are you wondering whether ADHD explains patterns you’ve struggled with for years?
Who This Evaluation Is For
-
Have long-standing difficulties with attention, organization, or follow-through
Feel chronically overwhelmed, burned out, or emotionally reactive despite strong effort
Are exploring ADHD later in life, sometimes after therapy, parenthood, or career demands
Want a thoughtful, accurate evaluation, not a rushed checklist
Many of my clients are professionals, parents, creatives, and helpers who are used to “holding it together” on the outside while working very hard internally.
-
This evaluation looks at the whole picture.
Uses the gold-standard diagnostic interview (DIVA-5) as the clinical anchor
Includes self and informant measures to understand how symptoms show up across settings
Assesses executive functioning and real-world impairment, not just attention
Carefully differentiates ADHD from anxiety, trauma, depression, or burnout
Integrates findings through clinical judgment, not algorithms
From an AEDP-informed perspective, I pay attention not only to what you struggle with, but how you learned to adapt and compensate.
-
Your evaluation includes:
A structured diagnostic interview assessing ADHD symptoms in childhood and adulthood
Standardized ADHD rating scales (self and informant)
Executive functioning assessment to understand organization, planning, time management, and emotional regulation
Objective attention testing to support clinical findings
Validity and differential assessment when clinically indicated
A comprehensive written report
A 60-minute feedback session focused on meaning, clarity, and next steps
You will leave with:
A clear diagnostic conclusion (ADHD confirmed or ruled out)
Language you can use with medical providers, employers, or schools
Thoughtful recommendations tailored to your and your life context
-
To be transparent:
This is not a full neuropsychological battery
It does not assess learning disorders, IQ, memory disorders, or brain injury
It is not designed for forensic or court-related purposes
If a broader neuropsychological evaluation would be more appropriate, I will help you identify local referral options.
The Evaluation Process
-
We clarify your concerns, history, and goals to ensure this evaluation is a good fit.
-
You’ll complete intake forms and rating scales. An informant (partner, parent, or trusted person) will also be invited to contribute.
-
We complete the diagnostic interview and testing in a single, well-structured visit.
-
I synthesize all findings into a clear, clinically grounded report.
-
We review results together and discuss treatment, accommodations, and next steps.

A Note on Diagnosis
A diagnosis of ADHD is not guaranteed.
The purpose of this evaluation is accuracy—not confirmation.
You may still find the process deeply helpful even when ADHD is ruled out, because it clarifies why certain strategies haven’t worked and what actually will.
Insurance & Payment for ADHD Evaluations
While I am in-network with several insurance plans for psychotherapy, psychological assessments are handled differently.
Psychological Assessments Are Private Pay
I do not participate as an in-network provider for psychological testing or diagnostic evaluations. This includes adult ADHD evaluations.
Because of this:
ADHD evaluations are private pay
Payment is required prior to or on the day of the assessment
Insurance benefits for psychotherapy do not apply to testing services
As part of scheduling, you will be asked to sign a brief acknowledgment form confirming that you understand this distinction.
This allows me to:
Use the most appropriate assessment tools
Spend the necessary time on careful interpretation and report writing
Provide a thorough, individualized evaluation without insurance-driven restrictions
Although I do not bill insurance directly for ADHD evaluations, some clients are able to receive partial reimbursement through their out-of-network benefits.
If you would like to pursue reimbursement:
A superbill can be provided upon request after payment
The superbill includes:
Diagnostic and procedure codes
Provider credentials and license information
Dates and descriptions of services
Fees paid
You can submit the superbill directly to your insurance company to determine whether any portion of the evaluation is reimbursable.
Because insurance plans vary widely, reimbursement is not guaranteed, and I recommend contacting your insurer directly to understand your out-of-network benefits.

Applying Results to Work & Career Decisions
-
This post-evaluation work may be helpful if you:
Feel stuck or burned out despite external success
Struggle to sustain roles that “look right” on paper
Experience cycles of overdrive followed by shutdown
Are questioning whether ADHD, or values mismatch is driving work difficulties
Are considering a career shift, role adjustment, or accommodation request
Many clients reach this point after years of adapting quietly, often without language for what hasn’t been working.
-
Career-focused work is offered only after an ADHD evaluation, when we already have clarity about:
ADHD symptom patterns
Executive functioning strengths and vulnerabilities
Emotional regulation under stress
Longstanding coping and compensation strategies
From there, we can explore questions such as:
What kinds of work environments support my nervous system?
Where am I over-relying on effort rather than fit?
What adjustments could reduce burnout without starting over entirely?
How do my values and interests interact with ADHD traits?
When useful, I may integrate vocational and personality-based assessment tools to deepen this understanding and support thoughtful decision-making.
-
Career consultation typically involves:
One to three focused sessions
Reflection on ADHD assessment findings as they relate to work
Structured exploration of interests, values, and stress patterns
Practical recommendations for role adjustment, career direction, or accommodations
This work is collaborative, reflective, and paced—designed to support clarity rather than pressure.
-
To be clear, this work does not include:
Job placement or résumé services
Workforce case management
Career coaching based on productivity or hustle culture
If those services are a better fit, I can help you identify appropriate local resources.
